A top level domain is the last few letters in a domain name such as com, gov, org, net, etc. The top-level domain name, info is meant to be used for general websites that provide information rather than sell a product.
While the top-level domain name, info is useful in the sense of being cheaper than the top-level domain name, com, it is also more commonly used by scammers. It also has four characters, and some programs can’t handle top level domain names with more than three characters. Because of these problems, some people choose to use the top-level domain name, com instead, even if the website is on information rather than a product.
